10 am to 11:30 am
The group held its third meeting in the PC classroom in the iLab. Only four members were able to attend, but the classroom is now ready for productive work ... :-)
A. Members present
B. Brief summary of main points
C. Tasks to be completed by next meeting
A. Members present
- Mr. Paul Alade, Junior, Electrical Engineering
- Mr. Timothy Staton-Davis (Computer Science)
- Mr. Nnamdi Anozie, 2nd Year, School of Law
-- Former Student Rep on Howard University's Board of Trustees - Dr. Roy Beasley (Office of the Provost)
B. Brief summary of main points
- Success for Howard-Dev-Apps = Big ideas + running code
- Mr. Staton-Davis and Mr. Alade installed the Eclipse "classic" IDE (Yoxos flavor) and the ADT Plug-in on PCs 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
==> These PCs are now fully ready to develop Android Apps - Dr. B and Mr. Anozie held a separate discussion about policy issues during the installation
- Given the low attendance at this meeting and the last one, it was agreed that Dr. B. should survey the group again to identify a day/time that was more accessible to more members of the group
C. Tasks to be completed by next meeting
- Install Apple SDKs and other tools on Macs in the "other" iLab classroom ... We need volunteers ... task deferred due to problems with Lion OS installed on these Macs
- Load SDKs on designated machines in the CLDC (Engineering) for weekend access ... We need volunteers
- Write a short paper that spells out our strategy for developing the Howard App ... Dr. B. ... DONE (See last section on the blog's Framework tab)
- Compile a list of twitter feeds that deal with mobile apps ... Mr. Njoku
- Add the feeds to a twitter widget on the group's blog ... Dr. B.
D. Previous tasks not completed yet
- Obtain specs for apps that are similar to the Howard-App that have been created at other universities ... Mr. Carey
- Check out intellectual property laws and regulations that may impact our group's activities ... Mr. Anozie
- Find out who's developing' the "Scavenger Hunt" app being developed for Howard's MS2 middle school on Android ==> recruit them to our group ... Mr. Carey
- Identify other app developer groups on campus -- if they exist ... Dr. Coleman/Mr. Njoku
- Recruit more members ... EVERYBODY ... :-)
Note: Recruits should be directed to the Google Group site where they can request to be admitted. Dr. B will then query new recruits as to which group member recommended them. For the time being, we will only admit new members who have been recommended by a current member.
